so, at school, there is something big going on. well, at least for us, anyway. it is[drumroll, please] SCIENCE OLYMPIAD!!!!!!!! and, no, it is not the elementary school thingy that all my friends talk about whenever i bring this up.[that drives me nuts.] this is bigger, much bigger. we compete against jr. high, high school kids! geez louise, i have four events, and i am NOT with a capital N ready yet. i am participating in these:
1.write it/ do it
2.metric mastery
3.awesome aquifers
4.ornithology
you can probably guess what 2,3,and 4 are about, but write it/do it is a little harder to guess. so i'll tell you: i am the writer[big suprise there], and my friend, porter is the "do-er." when we go to the event, they will take all of the other writers and me into a room, where they will show us an object. last time it was made of random household objects and k'nex. anyway, the writers will have 25 minutes to write exact insructions on how to build the object. they will turn it over to their partners, and they in turn will use the instructions to build this thing. but it is hard, because you cannot draw diagrams, arrows, pictures,ETC. there are other rules too, but i will not say all of them because there are a lot. in awesome aquifers, they will give my partner and i 2 tests, and on the 3rd station, we build an aquifer. at station 4, we explain to a judge how to use it, and some certain terms, like recharge. i am really exited, and it is this saturday!!! wish me[us] luck!!!!!! :)

mad libs
bears If you go to some fluffy place like Yellowstone national dog, you must know how to deal with the wild animals, such as bears and wolves and mice. the most important of these is the bear. There are three kinds of bear, the grizzly bear, the sour bear, and the furry bear. Bears spend most of their time flying and doing the backstroke. they look very blue, but if you make them soft, they might bite your ant. Bears will come up to your car and beg for grapes. They will stand on their hind legs and clap their knees together and pretend to be quiet. But do not get out of your moped or offer the bears pizza or oranges. This same advice goes to other wild creatures like trees or octopi. Remember all these rules and you will spend your vacation quickly and not get eaten by a clam.

the best vacation ever
My dad and I drove with our dog, tinkles, for ten years until we reached a peanut-covered cabin in the middle of the mall. There was nothing around for miles but hungry Elephants! How would I survive without my stamp collection? As soon as we arrived, An avalanche of ketchup started falling from the sky! Five hours later the storm had covered our ant farm up to the windows! We couldn't even open the microwave popcorn! "now what?" I whined. My Dad burped and started piling tacos into the fireplace. That night we roasted bubbles over the bathroom sink and told boring stories until the dog and I fell asleep in our hamburger buns. The next afternoon the roads were finally made of bubble gum. So we hopped backwards to the city. Staying at the cabin had been so bug-infested that we decided to make it a family tradition, But next time I think I'll bring a bulldozer, Just in case. by katie

"one,two buckle my shoe."
"buckle your own shoe!"
"who said that?"
"I did. What are yo doing with those
silly buckles on your shoes anyway?"
"three, four, shut the door."
"you shut it! you opened it!"
"five, six, pick up sticks."
"you do it! do you think I'm your slave?
buckle my shoe, shut the door, pick up sticks,
the next thing you'll be telling me to do is
lay them strait!"
"but it's only a poem. Nine, ten, a big fat... oh, never mind."

seahorse and a sawhorse
A seahorse saw a saw a sawhorse
On a seesaw meant for two.
"See here, sawhorse," said seahorse.
"may I seesaw with you?"
"I'll see, seahorse," said sawhorse,
"right now I'm having fun
seeing if I'll be seasick
on a seesaw meant for one."
